This was immediately helpful. My husband and I had no clue how to discipline our toddler without feeling like we were punishing him. I'm feeling MUCH more confident now.

Loving all the videos and practical exercises to look inward and apply everyday 🩷 so happy to have found your organization!

I am a grandma who — I am a grandma who found the Generation Mindful website when looking for resources to support the way our son and daughter-in-law were raising our granddaughter. They are using positive parenting to help break the cycle of shame in our family. It is not the way my husband and I were raised or the way we raised our son. “Children should be seen and not heard” pretty much sums up the theme of any parenting style we were a part of. The learning curve is huge, but Generation Mindful has helped both my husband and I to understand and honor the courageous step our son and daughter-in-law are taking. We are grateful for our relationship with them all.

I can’t get enough — You really have the resources here to produce thoughtful parents and children. I’m in the process of taking both your Positive Parenting and Reparent Yourself courses and can already see the positive effects of taking these simultaneously. I’m so much calmer while still feeling all the same emotions. I can’t wait to see the new Gina once all the courses are complete.

What I was looking for.! — This course is a fresh of breath air compared to other parenting courses that only focus on changing the behavior of tiny humans. Yet this course also helps those parents, caregivers and educators that care for tiny humans with beautiful minds that the world does not understand.

Generation mindful has given me — Generation mindful has given me a parenting approach that feels right and kind. It has given me a framework and tools to parent with  kindness, presence and connection, and helped me really understand and appreciate that my reactions to my child’s behavior are more about me than my child. It also has given me a like-minded community for support and advice. I’ve benefited for the parenting course, the time in tool kit and related materials, the trigger worksheet and the coaching sessions.  By my avoiding shame and punishment as a parent, I see my child growing up strong and confident.

I must confess I received — I must confess I received your "Positive Parenting" course as one of 18 courses (the Tiny Buddha bundle offered in January) but haven't yet had time to start it. So I looked at your whole website and was amazed at the depth and breadth of your free resources, and wrote a glowing yet truthful site review. It appeared on your website as the most recent one dated April 1st, and then it vanished. I hope my comments help with your grant writing, and I am definitely going to take your course. At age 72, I wish my parents had taken this course: my childhood would have had fewer spankings and lectures! I plan on using what I learn to be "a more mellow adult" in my future interactions with neighborhood kids.

GENM has been my community — GENM has been my community of support on this parenting journey. I found myself wanting to be a better parent but had trouble finding the approach that felt right for me and my family. When I came across GENM, everything I read about made sense and gave me hope for this next generation of children. Not only has GENM helped me connect with my children, but I feel that it has helped me start a journey of healing and self-discovery. I am re-parenting myself and finding such joy and growth on this journey- what a tremendous gift. I am so encouraged by the thought that my children may not have to go through such a process in their lives since we are helping them understand their emotions and be more present in their journey. I am immeasurably grateful for the support, guidance, and connection I have found through GENM. Thank you for all the work and love and energy you put into GENM Suzanne- your words spoken and written mean so much to all of us. Your mission is so honorable and so needed for our kids, parents, and our world.

Helpful Class — I am better able to feel myself getting triggered and I am now able to stop. I feel closer to my children. The Power class really helped me determine my triggers. Thank you!

Meeeeew :call_me_hand:

Very open and friendly host — Very open and friendly host Good information (would have maybe like more exemple of what to do for specific situations) but overall it’s a good course and i think every parents should have some basic knowledge about our little one

Time in tool kit — The best in town! Your time-in tool kit has been a great deal and it’s worth it! I’ve bought it during the pandemic in 2020 and now my kids help me to calm down

Great class. Great to hear — Great class. Great to hear others struggle same as you. That we aren’t alone

So grateful for this positive parenting course. — I'm only on video 2 so far but am loving the content in this course! I really appreciate the red, yellow, green brain poster that Suzanne teaches about in video 1. It's helpful to know what's going on inside my toddler's brain when he's having a meltdown. I've been practicing letting him know that he is "safe" during these emotional times and he calms down instantly! It's like magic... So grateful for this positive parenting course.

Helpful Tools — I appreciate the parenting tools which give me a resource to draw from when I’m not in a positive place. I am learning to have compassion for myself as I practice new skills.

great positive parenting course — Class is very open, non judgmental and calm. It is great to be part of a community as well. Great to reinforce positive parenting techniques that I have learned about.

Never too early! — This is a great course! My daughter is still a little young - 18 months! But I wanted to get a head start so I would know what to do. Even a few things starting now are helpful so I have high hopes for implementing the calming corner when she understands more.

I am loving the class — I am loving the class so far. I haven’t finished it yet. I am taking this class as a grandma to improve upon my parenting style for the next generation. As a fellow PT who loves brain science and a wholistic approach, this course has been right up my ally.

Love the idea of parenting from my center. — Open my eyes about parenting from my center. This is pretty new to me and I love the idea. Still progressing in the course, hope to get more new ideas and tools about parenting in the course. However, hope the website to make some improvements, as I have problem viewing the videos sometimes which makes me off center, lol.

We have been learning so — We have been learning so much about how to communicate with our two littles who have very different personalities. It has helped us identify ways to communicate that are very different but necessary for each of our children.

Love — My kids love that I call them love, that they are love. I get more hugs now. I have a different feeling towards others. But it's still a work in progress because I'm still dealing with so much negativity from the past and present. My favorite part again was tell6my kids they are love. They can tell the difference in the feeling between I love you and that they are love. If you could make a certificate at the end to say we completed the course if it's possible. Other than that. I loved this course and it was awesome. Thank you for creating this. It gives so much extra support I needed. I still have lots to workout but when I watch the videos again. I can pick up more to help me. Thank you so much again! ?

Very Informative for New Parents — I'm currently expecting my first baby and this class has been incredibly helpful. I loved the mantras, concepts, examples, etc. I appreciate the mix of theory and practical knowledge too. Every time I listen to the video I feel a lot calmer and and optimistic. I think new parents get bombarded with information which could be overwhelming, so I really loved one of the first things Suzanne shared which is "get to know your baby", "present not perfect" I think this resonated really well with me. I've shared my learnings with my husband and I'm planning to include him in every class, workshop, etc that I will be attending related to Positive Parenting. One of my favorite parts are the practical examples. As a new parent it's very helpful to have more context on how to apply those concepts. The least favorite, although I do learn from the "sharing" section but maybe that could take less time and instead it would be great to add more concepts. I'm fascinated by this field and I wonder if this course/program can offer a certificate in Positive Parenting.

Name It to Tame It! — Specific phrasing to use to communicate positively with my child. For example, Toddler: "Cookie mom". Me: "We had a cookie and it was so good. We're all done with cookies now." Also making our day to day activities fun. Often when he's resisting doing something he thinks it's a game. This class taught me to use that fact to turn the game into something that gets us through the task we're working on. My husband and I now have a shared understanding and frame work to use for parenting. We are "talking the same language" when parenting our toddler. My favorite part of the class was the emphasis on growing child's emotional knowledge, "name it to tame it". I was still getting overwhelmed and losing my temper sometimes with my toddler (for example if he would hit me repeatedly) even after taking this class. Then I started listening to podcasts by Janet Lansbury and it helped me understand and incorporate an idea that I didn't absorb from your class. The idea was that 1) hitting can be a sign of many things such as sadness, fatigue, hunger, etc, 2) my mood is disconnected from his mood and he needs me to stay a calm leader, 3) the more I react to his behavior the more exciting/fun he thinks it is, 4) I can say "I'm not going to let you hurt me" and hold is hands and move my body out of the way, 5) I've stopped giving him too much time or too many chances to "do it myself", instead I wait a moment and then I say "I can see you need some help (if he's avoiding doing what he said he wanted to do himself). I'm going to help you..." and then I gently help him even if he protests. The thing that I still have not figured out (after your class and the podcasts I'm listening to) is how to get him into his carseat. He is strong and I have hurt my back trying to put him in. He will only get in himself if there is a reward waiting such as watching a video on my phone in the carseat. He's only 2.5 years told so he's not motivated yet by an explanation of the fun activity we're going to go do.

responding vs. reacting — I have been working on responding vs. reacting to my kids. One instance, my daughter wanted something and I said "we can have that later, right now, we are doing this." After a minute or two she understood and was able to move on. The main difference in my relationship with my children is thinking more about connecting with them in play and whatever else they like to do. My favorite classes were on ritual and play and power. My least favorite was probably intuition because that has always been a challenge for me and it will take me some more time to process.

Self Awareness — More on the same page as spouse. I would have preferred it to be live, or if recorded not seeing other participants. If pre-recorded then without other participants. This was distracting, tangential, and didn't feel helpful as we were not able to participate along with them.

Consistency is Key — I have known consistency is important for so long, but this course really made it clear to me. I have been focusing on fixing things & introducing new things, when I just need to start with consistency & routine and build from there. I found the open share discussion less relevant, but Im sure thats just because I wasnt taking it live. Would enjoy shorter modules so it is easier to pause & restart when you have to walk away.

Stronger Bond — The tension between my child and I were high, it was almost impossible for her to speak in normal voice (instead of screaming, whining), and me screaming back at her. The session on red/yellow/green light brain and being present to connect with my child helped me a lot. When I am about to spot a melt down I have her sit on my lap until she is at the yellow or green light before I attempt to speak to her or ask her to complete a task (ie cleaning up). Overall the screaming and tantrums have definitely decreased and I feel that the bonding between us became stronger. Instead of avoiding time with my child, I can now enjoy our time much better. I enjoyed the class very much. Connecting myself to the past was very helpful in understanding how I had react to my child and setting the wrong expectations. I enjoyed listening to other people's sharing at the beginning of each class, it helps me feel that I am not alone. The least favorite part would be some topics are a little bit abstract and I don't think I understood the topics really well (mindfulness, intuition). I feel that some topics are more difficult to grasp (mindfulness, intuition). Giving a lot more examples might help me understand them.

Good For Building Up — Before the class just the website videos is what helped me implement hour ideas the class was too much of be-building the adults ( I already did that healing so it was wasted time for me to have that). It was interesting to have my husband hear some of those ideas like triggers for my husband. Made him think a bit but he struggled as he doesn't think like that he said he is so compartmentalized. Chatting with spouse about the material questions. I wish there was beginner and advanced class maybe? If you already know all the part about being a built up person in your true self that Suzanne talks about constantly just a class to fast track the actual way to parent. Not explaining all the part to fix the parent if they already know those concepts and implement. It felt like if you know how to say your ABC's and someone keeps telling you your ABC's and you keep waiting to learn how to spell or something. I kept waiting to learn what to do when my kid keeps melting down and doesn't want to go to calming corner or how to give a consequence or if your in a rush how to get them out the door vs screaming on the floor. the very beginning tips. I had implemented idea and my twins would be working out their feelings alone together but then one would be mad where is my on particular sock and how does Gen Mind work then? They don't want to work through it and I don't want to wait long as we need to get out the door. stuff like that. practical ideas.

Printables very helpful — yes, i do feel like i need to retake the class because i absorbed a lot vs implemented a lot. but the things I did implement did have a very obvious positive impact. my favorite are all of the printable tools. i have printed each and every one of them and hung them up. not the class homework, but the additional tools. its absolutely perfect the way it is

Examples and Tricks — Understanding the different levels of brain my child is in is a major game changer. Im able to name it to tame it and help regulate his feelings once he calms down. Im calmer i would say.. I liked everything I learned. I especially loved the different examples of situations that were given and the different tricks that were mentioned. I wish there were more of these. I also wish there were specific examples for my age children.

Parenting from My Center — I learned how to integrate play into many different challenging areas. I also learned more about my own triggers. I learned how to be more mindful of my triggers so I can parent from my center which has also helped my relationship with my spouse. I really enjoyed the class on power.

Owning My Feelings — I noticed that I gained more awareness and I was able to identify my thoughts and feelings. A big change is that I noticed when I was experiencing righteous anger and blaming my children for my feelings. I noticed that my kids definitely respond more when I'm playful with them. I'm less judgmental of my children especially of my daughter. I focus much more on my children's strengths. I own my feelings instead of thinking that others are to blame or responsible for my feelings. I enjoyed learning about ritual and play. My daughter quickly transforms into a calm kitty whenever I tell her: "Come here, calm kitty". I would love to have at least a 30 minute phone call with you after completing the course in order to ask questions about how to apply certain concepts. I think it would be helpful to add some role play or examples of how to set firm boundaries.

Needs vs Wants — Really really appreciating the red/yellow/green brain info. I no longer try to teach during red brain moments. Working hard to connect with toddler and understand that he NEEDS something rather than thinking he just WANTS something. Enjoyed the sharing from group participants. I still dont know what to do when my toddler does something to hurt the baby. I absolutely value what I learned but dont know what to do when I need to STOP something in the moment. ( hitting, running into baby with toy car...).

Better Understanding of My Triggers and My Daughters Behavior — I absolutely understand my triggers better and am better able to be mindful of them. My kids, well my daughter is pretty strong willed so seeing a change is taking some time, but I won't give up! I feel like having the understanding, or at least starting to understand that this behavior isn't directed AT me is the greatest gift in my relationship with my daughter. It does often feel like she is doing this on purpose to get a response from me and remembering that her brain isn't developed yet is helping me redirect my own thoughts around this. I do know there's a live Wednesday during the month for live questions, but I don't think I know when that is so it would be great to get that info in advance so I could ask questions since I didn't get to participate live!

Changed My Exceptions — When I changed my exceptions I got better result for both myself and the children in my classes.

Rockstar Moment! — Connecting before correcting makes a massive difference taking the time in allowing my child to feel heard. Bedtime routine was an issue I changed my choice of words to connect with him so that he felt safe as he would say Im to scared I need you. I stayed calm I told him I loved him and he is safe and that I would come back in his room in 5 mins to check on him I used a 5min hour glass timer as a concrete object to understand time and a visual to when I would return, I stayed consistent telling him I would only return when the timer was up and not to yell out, it worked it took a couple of nights for him to trust that I would stay true to my word. I also put a red light that played music I said I would turn the timer on and he said to me maybe not mum you can just let me sleep Ill be safe Rockstar moment!!! I feel more connected with him and that he is happier and he doesnt resort to aggression when frustrated. I found everything to be valuable, the simple phrases such as name it to tame it and feel it to heal was really great with examples

I learned this in class — Feel it to heal it, name it to tame it has really helped me! Easy to remember even when emotions are high and helps me name their emotions and go from there. Definitely helps my speech delayed 3yo when I say what he's feeling ...immediately calms him down and I can tell he's relieved when he knows that I know how he's feeling. I can share things from the class with my husband and that helps our communication. I will step in and say, "I learned this in class" and then model it for my husband. That is better received and feels less like criticism /judgement to him! You are very easy to listen to! You kept my attention the entire time. It was all great?? Perhaps a version that is made specifically for people listening on playback? I couldn't see the other mothers' faces on my phone and I was walking around doing chores while listening anyhow. It felt like extra time sometimes waiting for others to participate and then listening to the back and forth. Hearing others' stories is great but I think hearing them from you in a more concise way would be better!

Better Connection — Ive noticed this classs impact in all sorts of little (really big to us) moments, like sitting with my daughter's emotion when she is sad instead of urging her right away that it's "okay". I don't just rush to fix it, and maybe ignore her emotions in the process. In the way I approach a challenging situation with my daughter. When she's doing something we'd rather her not do, I try to understand why and where she's coming from, which allows me to better navigate the situation for her sake and mine. I think this creates better connection between us! The intimate sharing in this course was comforting and a great learning environment!

Great class — I see my child recognizing when her emotions are escalating on her own. It's helped me stay mindful in my parenting. Great class no complaints

New Mindset — So far its working with my toddler and Im hoping that it will start working with my older children once I become more consistent. My mindset is different, so Im hoping to see that translate across my home. I would love to get more strategies to use with older kids and teens. These things are easy to do with toddlers and preschoolers but I cant see being successful calling my 9yo son with ODD and my 11yo bedtime puppies. I didnt like not having the opportunity to connect with anyone during the replay. I know thats a limitation of the community but maybe even a fb group would give the opportunity to talk to others about our struggles and successes too.
