Safe, powerful, connected. Supported, nurtured, and seen. These are just some of the ways we want our children to feel.
The question, "How do my kids feel when they are with me?" has been rocking my world since I shared the above image with you on Instagram.
Many attribute the sentiment the above adaptation is based on to the late and great Maya Angelou who, in 2003, said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
And others to Carl W. Buehner who, in 1971 said, "They may forget what you said - but they will never forget how you made them feel."
Whatever version you know, I hope this adaptation inspires you. It has definitely been "turning the lights on" for me this week, bringing, at times, humbling but always light-filled awareness my way.
